I have a coming 3 year old Friesian Sport horse, just had a growth about the size of a big walnut removed off of her foreleg and sent it off for testing. The vet said it could be a melanoma. I haven't ever seen this before, is it frequent in Friesians? I have only seen them on older, gray horses. My filly is pure black, not one white hair. Thanks in advance

I love these horses so much I wrote a book! It's a story about a Friesian stallion during the early 1900s in the Netherlands. This is a time when the breed was almost extinct! The book is 292 pages of historical fiction.
You can visit it at www.tordenspage.com and if you are like me and like Friesian pictures, the site has a some for your viewing pleasure.
The book is available on Amazon.com, just look up Torden, Hear the Thunder
I highly recommend these horses for people who desire a close relationship with a horse. They are different than any other breed I have known!

I have a Friesian/Percheron cross. If anyone knows of any sites picturing this breed cross please email me and let me know. She looks full Friesian except for her star and she is graying out. I would love to see what she could possibly look like all grown up. She is 11 months and standing 14.1 at the withers and almost 14.3 at her hind quarters. She will be a tall one. She does have the long Friesian wavy mane and tail with hints of silver in it. She will be a show stopper.

In 2001 I was treated to an exclusive visit to the then still unofficially opened new Friesian horse centre (forget actual name) in the northern Netherlands--wow! Got to see some of the top stallions in the world. However, my love affair with Friesians began with the movies, namely "Ladyhawke" and Disney's "Tall Tale." Imagine my utter delight to be chugging along on a train through the Friesian countryside and seeing these beautiful horses by the dozens! Frequently, while walking through the countryside outside of Leeuwarden and in the Islingmere district, I could just walk up to the fence and pet these friendly animals--mares, foals and stallions alike. The more contact I had with them, the more I became enamored of the Friesian. And better still, was the love that the Friesian people had for the breed themselves--right down to the amazing larger-than-life Friesian statue in the heart of Leeuwarden's downtown. There are a lot of horse breeds that I am fond of--but none has captivated me heart and soul, as the wonderful Friesian has.

Yes, Friesians are truly a beautiful breed.I'm 13 years old, and when I was younger, I didn't even know another breed of hourse existed, for that was the only kind of horse my aunt ever did, and ever will raise. Just last august I just participated in my first show with her perfect pedigree, Netherland bought mare, and we did very well. I'm truly licky to be the age I am and to be able to do such great and fun thing with this magnificent breed. Now I couldn't imagine showing any other horse than GEARTSHCHEN. She is my baby, and she's beautiful. If you are interested in my aunts Friesians, go to her website @ www.martindalefriesianfarm.com. ThanK You.

I have recently purchased a weanling: 1/2 Fresian and 1/2 American Saddlebred. She is beautiful with a lot of action already! I fell in love with the Fresian breed this year at a horse show - I will need a reputable Dressage Trainer in the Sacramento area - maybe even one that will work with a yearling to keep us on track. Does anyone know of a good source to find reputable trainers? Any comments, suggestions, questions, always welcome.

Thank you

Itīs nice finding people to share our love for horses. have never ridden a fresian horse, but as I know they were breed fron andaluzians, shold be very easy to train and ride. Horses are lovable no matter what breed they belong. We colombians have native ( criollos) horses, which are very smooth and nervous ( both conditions make them a real joy when riding) we call them paso fino and trocha, better known as saddle horses

They are extremely intelligent and astonishingly nice with people. When i'll have the opportunity and circumstances (money, stall, and more money :)), i'll have a fresian, and i won't want anything more in my life... :)

Charlie, thanks for posting! I agree, the Friesian in black is perfect. From the first time I saw this horse I knew it fit my standard for equine perfection. Perfect size and proportions, and jet black.

Justin, I checked out your site. Although I think it's neat to have horse-themed greeting cards, I don't want this web page to become an advertising portal. I'm hoping it is a valuable resource to people who seek specific and comprehensive information on Friesians and other horses.

I hope you understand.
